What is online therapy?

Online therapy became increasing popular during COVID when it was more important than ever to try and stay connected to people via different means. However its remained popular because of its flexibility, easy accessibility and often a more affordable than traditional therapy and counselling. Previously there were opinions around whether online therapy could be as good as traditional face-to-face therapy, however its now a widely accepted as successful, with many people finally reaching out to a therapist due to the privacy of seeing a professional from the comfort of their own home.

I have completed various training courses on online therapy to provide a specialist service. I have seen first hand how powerful therapy can be via a video call or over the phone. You no longer need to deal with commutes or awkward waiting rooms, you can sit in your favourite chair with a cup of tea and slippers if you wish! Having the choice of any therapist in the UK rather than only those local to you often means being able to find someone to suit your financial needs or accessing someone with a particular speciality you want. Many clients struggle with anxiety and find the idea of travelling to someone’s office far too daunting, however by doing therapy online they can access the help and support they need to start making changes and finally challenge their anxiety. It also provides privacy and can help if there’s concerns around being judges for attending therapy.

I offer many different types of online therapy in the hopes of becoming even more accessible. For those who may have a hectic schedule, work unsocial hours or difficulty trying to find childcare and cannot commit to a hourly session, email or messaging therapy may be the way forward. This can offer true flexibility, being available whenever you wish to reach out, it can also be done from your phone. Email therapy can also be incredibly liberating for those who would feel too anxious being seen or heard during a session, often writing down your thoughts can be a less daunting way to start your therapy journey.
